Tour Higlights
The Dagala Thousand Lakes Trek is a 5 to 6-day moderate-to-challenging high-altitude hike in Bhutan. Starting near Genekha (south of Thimphu), the route traverses alpine meadows, yak herder camps, and pristine mountain lakes up to 4,500 meters. Hikers are rewarded with spectacular views of the Himalayas, including Mt. Everest, Jomolhari, and Masanggang.
Best Seasons: Spring (late March to May for rhododendron blossoms) and Summer (June to August for wildflowers and mushrooms).
Brief Tour Itinerary
Day 01. Upon arrival at Paro airport, your guide will receive you and transfer you to the hotel. Afternoon, visit to Ta Dzong, built in 1656, which now houses the national museum of Bhutan. Then visit Rinpung dzong, built in 1646 by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal. In the evening, visit a Bhutanese farmhouse. Dinner and overnight in the hotel.
Day 02. Paro – Hike to Tiger’s Nest monastery:
Day 03. Paro – Geynekha – Gur (Start of Dagala trek, Bhutan):
Day 04. Gur – Labatamba.
Day 05. Labatamba – Panka.
Day 06. Panka – Talakha.
Day 07. Talakha – Chamgang – Thimphu (End of Dagala trek, Bhutan)
Day 08. Thimphu sightseeing:
Day 09. Thimphu – Punakha sightseeing – Thimphu (76 Km, 3-hour drive)
Day 10. Thimphu – Paro (End of Dagala trek Bhutan tour)
